Stream Team is an educational-based stream monitoring protocol developed by the University of Alaska Environment and Natural Resources Institute. It is used throughout Alaska by volunteer stream monitors. In Sitka, we have been working with several organizations over the past 6 years to collect Steam Team data. The biggest effort is in May of each year, where over 100 7th-graders participate in Stream Team. Most data has been collected in Indian River and Starrigavan Creek.
The photo gallery below shows a Stream Team data collecting event with Sitka High School and the USFS October 25, 2013 in Starrigavan Creek.
