Ten sites within the Stream Temperature Monitoring Network

Due to the paucity of stream temperature data for coastal Southeast Alaska, we established a long-term temperature monitoring network for Baranof and Chichagof Islands. Currently we are maintaining 10 sites. Five of these sites are within the West-Chichagof Yakobi Wilderness Area (under research permit with the Tongass National Forest), and three of the sites near Sitka are maintained under a partnership with the University of Alaska Southeast. The sites were originally installed with the support of the Sitka Conservation Society. SAWC maintains the sites on an annual basis.

All data is shared with the Tongass National Forest and the Alaska Online Aquatic Temperature Site (AKOATS) maintained by the Alaska Natural Heritage Program.
